Mothers' Day is Special Globally

By Donna Noble

There are very many ways of bringing in Mother's Day as never before. I know that's true for me.

This is for the mothers who instinctively turn their heads when they hear the word "Mom", even though they know that their kids are nowhere around. In its present form, Mother's Day received national recognition on May 9, 1914.

This is so different from the days of my youth when even our adult neighbors could discipline us when we got out of order and our parents were not present. Your mother is someone who balances both work and household duties with ease. She is a multi-tasker and someone who values organisation. So, a gift that suits her lifestyle and attitude would be accessories.

One of those occasions that none of us can afford to miss, Mother's Day is something everyone can relate to. So this goes out to all the mothers who have kept awake all night with their sick toddlers in their arms, constantly uttering those compassionate words, "It's OK honey, Mommy's here."

And yes, another essential for a memorable and a different Mothers Day celebration is thinking from the heart. Giving Mother's Day gifts is a common trend.

So, this is meant for all the young and aged mothers, working mothers and housewives, married mothers and the single mothers, and for those without whom life would have been insufferable. And yes, another essential for a memorable and a different Mothers Day celebration is thinking from the heart.

Thus, gift ideas like dresses, her favourite footwear or accessories like scarves, handbags, watches etc.will work perfectly in making this day memorable for your mother. They are our guiding force and are responsible for making us who we are.

Julia Ward Howe's accomplishments did not end with the writing of her famous poem, "The Battle Hymn of the Republic." As Julia became more famous, she was asked to speak publicly more often. Her husband became less adamant that she remain a private person, and while he never actively supported her further efforts, his resistance eased.

Festivals honouring mothers and mother goddesses date to ancient times. Finally the holiday was declared officially by states beginning in 1912, and in 1914 the President, Woodrow Wilson, declared the first national Mother's Day.

Some of the decoratives that would be the perfect choice of a Mother's Day gift are show pieces, vases, figurines and lanterns made of different kinds of materials. This is for all the mothers who read "Goodnight, Moon" twice a night for a year, and then read it again.

In its present form, Mother's Day received national recognition on May 9, 1914. This is for all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew Halloween costumes. And all the mothers who don't.

Carnations, her mother's favourite flowers graced the occasion. This is for the mothers who silently shed tears for their children who have gone astray.
