How to Find Childcare that You Can Trust

By Neal Zalenski

One of the hardest things that a mother has to do is learn how to trust someone else to take care of her child. This is the same child that you carried for nine months during pregnancy. This is the same child who you nurse, feed and take care of whether he is in good health or sick.Yes, you might feel comfortable enough to let your mother or mother-in-law take care of him. But, there is a difference in letting his grandmothers take care of him and putting him in a daycare. So, how are you going to locate the best childcare provider for your child?

You can begin the process by searching for good daycare centers in your neighborhood.Find out everything that you can about them. You should visit each of them, but you can do that later once the list has been narrowed down. But today, the vast majority of these centers can be researched online.Go to the different websites of the agencies in your state that inspect, license and certify childcare.See how your favorite picks are rated on these sites.

If your favorite daycare centers did not receive good ratings, then take them off of your list.Did you know that these websites can tell you things such as when each daycare was last inspected, and whether or not it passed? If the inspectors found anything wrong, you can get reports that will list the violations.Basically, you can research plenty of daycare centers online and not leave your home.

Now you can visit the daycares that are left on your list.It is considered rude to show up unannounced, but following this rule is not what matters right now.Just do a walk-in inspection of each facility that you like. You can get a good idea of what is really occurring. This will catch them off guard, if they have something to hide.

You can look into the following things.Check to see if the center is clean.Ensure that the center is not doing anything that could possibly harm your child.Ask about the staff and their education and background. A credible daycare center will always do background checks on everyone on staff.Ask about each teacher and whether or not she has taken the appropriate child care courses.

Although you might want a teacher who has a certificate 3 in child care, not all daycares require this type of certification.Unfortunately, some of these centers only babysit and not teach children. They do not really specialize in learning activities at all. However, there are daycares that teach children and not just babysit them. You might have to pay more to enroll your child at a learning center, but they are a good choice.

In conclusion, you cannot take care of your son during the day because you must return to work. However, you have to find decent childcare that you trust. Be certain that it has an experienced staff and that the environment is safe and clean. It will seem like a hard thing to do, but the research must be done.
