Baby Hip Seat And Other Gifts

By Lela Perkins

Welcoming a new child into the world is a special time for the parents and their friends and family members. Many people like to buy some sort of present at this time, and there are a lot of options. Whether it is a baby hip seat, some new clothes or a small teddy, there is something for all requirements.

An outfit is a popular choice for new babies, especially because they grow so quickly and will require many changes. It is relatively cheap to buy simple outfits in bulk, but as a gift it may be pleasant to buy something more special or fashionable. This may also be defined by the time of year of the birth, for example a Christmas child may be presented with a themed fancy dress outfit.

Simple toys are quite cheap to buy, and may be a good idea for younger family members with a budget. Rattles and mobiles are popular when the child is first born, or perhaps a soft teddy. Some teddies and toys are marketed specifically at new born babies, although this could be more expensive.

Those who are particularly close to the new parents will often buy a more significant present. It is usual for the parents to be prepared in terms of nursery furniture and bottles, for example, but other items such as pushchairs and high chairs that will be used months later may not have been bought. This can be quite expensive and may help to reduce the stress of having to buy one later.

An item that has become quite popular is the baby hip seat. This is an item that will not be required until the child has grown to be heavier, but the parents will surely be appreciative of the supportive equipment. The child can sit comfortably at the side of their parent, meaning the mother or father is left with free hands to do other things but remains close to their child. It is also a proven way to reduce muscle injuries associated with carrying weight to the side of the body.

Another idea is to buy a gift for the parents themselves. Most presents tend to focus on the child, and although this is usually helpful and well received, the parents may appreciate something especially for them. They may like to share a bottle of their favourite drink together, or perhaps some chocolates. A particularly close friend could even buy the mother a pamper session so that she can take a break for a while.

A common worry amongst parents welcoming the birth of a new child is the feelings of any existing children within the family. This is especially prominent where there is just one young child and they have become a sibling for the first time. Perhaps buy the existing child a gift to show that they are still loved and that their role as a sibling is important and should be cherished.

There are lots of different ideas when it comes to buying presents for a new child. While most will honour the birth with a small present that can be used immediately, it may be nice to buy something like a baby hip seat or high chair that can be used a few months later. However, for larger presents like these, you may consider asking the parents first to ensure nobody else has bought the same gift.
