Facts About The Stuffed Bear Toys

The stuffed bear, also referred to by many as the teddy bear, is something that occupies a really unique space within the American culture. Cuddly stuffed toys are among the most popularly bought off shelves since they are considered comfort toys by very young children. Other than that, they have the tendency to bring nostalgic childhood memories for a lot of adults.

The experience of the then-US President, Theodore Roosevelt was what gave rise to the toy name, teddy bear. The whole thing started when he refused to raise his gun against a bear during an expedition his subordinates arranged for him. This story eventually surfaced publicly which inspired Morris Michtom to market his cuddly toys bearing the name, Teddys Bear. Eventually, this name was cut short along the years.

Majority of these toys were intended to be exclusively marketed for children. In accordance to government regulations, toy manufacturers have been mandated to produce toys with securely fastened eyes, legs and arms attached using special safety joints. Those that are made to sport outfits need to comply to the standards intended for clothing issues. These toys are typically machine washable. However, owners should still exert in effort reading care instructions for certainty.

There may be a few teddy lovers desiring to experience how it feels to make their own toys. If you are the same, then you might want to join toy-making workshops. A lot of parents usually consider this for birthday parties of their kids. Workshops will allow you to decide on the clothing and accessories you want your toy to sport.

Because these toys are universally associated with bright childhood memories, finding adults that purchase stuffed bears for their own use is not surprising at all. Adult collectors are referred to as Arctophiles. The term is a combination of the words, Arcto and Philos, which are the Greek terms for bears and love respectively.

Adults who are interested in collecting these types of toys, however, usually consider getting custom-made collectibles that feature intricate hand stitching of details. These are different from the typical toys that are displayed at shelves of various toy stores. Collectibles are usually found at specialty boutiques or craft shows. These are made without safety guidelines so owners should make sure they are out of reach of very small children.

Among the most unique collectibles available in the market are soy dipped bears. Originally, they are simple toys, with some even coming from thrift stores. However, crafters have these dipped into candle wax, often scented, making them decorative display objects. Scents usually last for several months, making them fresheners that are beautiful and functional as well.

It is really difficult to clean these types of toys. If you are planning to get a custom-made one, then most likely, the workshop you attended have some cleaners available. Those you have bought from stores will do fine with detergent and water. Washing must be done at least every month or if deemed necessary.

A stuffed bear needs to be thoroughly dried after it has been cleaned. Owners may leave them somewhere waterproof. Hanging them exposed to sunlight will do fine as well. Other people may opt to dry them down with blowers or dryers and then brush them to regain fluffiness.
