By Estelle Petersen

Even though most couples want to leave the sex of their future child up to chance, there are some who want to know how to choose the baby gender. There are several methods to do so, with some being all-natural and a few that are more scientific. No matter the decision, the most important thing is that an infant is born healthy.

There is a lot of controversy surrounding the subject of being able to choose the conceptions of a boy or girl. Many individuals think that by doing so then parents are playing the role of God. There are others who believe that they have a right to make those type of decisions. No matter what a person thinks, there are several methods for manipulating an infant's sex before conception.

The sperm carries two chromosomes that are known as Y and X. Each one of them is responsible for determining whether a child will be male or female. One researcher came up with a way of helping the process along, known as the Shettles method. It revolves around timing a couple's sexual activities so that they manipulate the genders a woman will conceive.

To have a girl, a female must monitor her ovulation cycle meticulously by using a home ovulation kit or body temperature readings. Three days before an impending ovulating sequence begins, the couples needs to have intercourse. During the sexual encounter, they need to use positions that allow for shallow penetration.

Making a male child is quite similar to the first method in that it requires careful monitoring of ovulation. However, the way a couple copulates will be drastically different. The man has to get in a positions that allows him to penetrate the female deeply. Although the two methods are not guaranteed, many people have had great success with them.

A more scientific way, a couple can manipulate their child's sex, is to leave it up to modern medicine. Fertility experts can provide all the information needed to guide a couple through their options. The most popular method is by using in-vitro fertilization to conceive a child. This process allows medical professionals to manipulate the eggs before implanting them into a female's uterus. Another option is for them to use dyes to determine which sperm are carrying the Y or X chromosomes and picking out the one's they prefer to use for implantation.

Couples who have full knowledge of how to choose the baby gender, are better able to make an informed decision. The important thing is that every couple is able to make their own choice and that the child is taken care of. It's a painstaking process to undergo, but the end result is truly amazing.
