Helpful Baby Skin Care Hints for New Parents

By Baby Beethovan

The skin care industry is such a big market because many of us crave the skin we had years ago. There are products in every price range to help. For those who can afford it and some others who can't, it isn't an issue to shell out hundreds of dollars in an effort to retain our glamorous skin.

By taking care of your baby's skin, you are ensuring that they will develop beautiful skin during their teenage years, plus it teaches them to continue giving their skin the same attention that you did. Follow are tips and you can provide your baby with the skin we all are after.

In addition to using sunscreen on any part of your baby's skin that isn't covered in clothing, you should take extra care with areas like the baby's cheeks, nose, ears and lips. Zinc oxide can provide an extra layer of protection to your baby's face and ears when you take your baby outside. And, obviously, your baby will need to wear a hat when he or she is taken out into a sunny day. There is no such thing as being too careful!

Doing this will keep yeast from breeding and diaper rashes from happening. Fresh air can work wonders for a baby's skin. In fact, most diaper rashes and skin issues develop because the baby has been sitting in a wet or fouled diaper for too long or wrapped up too tightly in his or her clothes. Allowing your baby's skin to breathe is one of the best ways to keep these issues at bay.

The last thing you want is to irritate your baby's skin when all you are trying to do is keep it clean! Gentle skin care products are the best skin care products. Consider asking your pediatrician for help if you aren't sure which skin care products are best for your baby.

Your newborn baby's skin is incredibly sensitive to direct sunlight so you should take care to make sure that your baby is not exposed to direct sunlight until he or she is at least six months old. After six months you will want to use a strong baby sunscreen on every inch of your baby's body that is not covered in clothing when you go outside.

Do not treat your baby's acne with adult solutions! This can lead to a trip to the emergency room. Instead keep the baby's face clean through regular bathing and the acne will clear up on its own in a few weeks.

Believe it or not, it is pretty easy to practice proper baby skin care. Before long you will see that all you have to do is keep your baby out of dirt and the rest of your infant's skin care is common sense. You'll get the hang of it soon enough so don't panic.
