One of the goals of a parent is to provide all the needs of their children. They also need to be a loving and caring parent to their child. Even if this is the scenario, you still need to punish them if they made something wrong. It is your duty as a parent to discipline your children the right way. It you said that they will be grounded then you need to do it. They will not see any authority in you if you will not go by the rules that you implemented. There is also a chance that the mistake that they did will happen again in the future.
