By Julia Cooper Davidson

Having a child with an itchy skin condition can make parents feel powerless to help. You know they have such sensitive and soft skin that even minor irritants can make your baby very grumpy. Baby eczema and natural skin care is something every parent should take time to investigate. Since it could be a recurring problem it would be wise to know how to treat it. It can mean a world of difference to the child.

Itches that cannot be scratched can drive an adult almost insane. Now imagine you are an infant and cannot communicate what is bothering you to the person who is attending to you. As you can imagine it can make a child very irritable and grumpy. You can help solve this problem naturally by using dry oatmeal ground into powder. Try adding 2 cups to lukewarm running bathwater. Allowing your infant to soak for 15 minutes will help ease her discomfort. Make sure to rinse off the residue and pat dry instead of rubbing to decrease the chances of further irritation.

Moisture preservation is very important, especially when there is a problem with eczema. Topical lotions that contain aloe vera are very good at hydrating and healing. Application should be made several times a day and especially after bathing. This should keep your child properly moisturized and keep her from becoming too dry.

One of the biggest problems parents run into with eczema is that almost all bath products will irritate the condition. This is because the additives are simply too harsh for the child. You should only buy cleansers which state they are fragrance free and hypoallergenic. The daily use of a humidifier may also be advisable.

Products that contain healing vitamins such as vitamin E can assist the skin in healing itself. The vitamins will be introduced directly into the cells by absorption so it is a highly efficient means to treat this condition. Avoid those products which have fragrances and dyes in them. These could actually sting and cause your little loved one pain.

You can also discuss other alternatives with your child's pediatrician. Sometimes your child's doctor may be able to recommend certain oils that have been shown to help combat this problem. Make sure you let your pediatrician know about any reoccurring outbreaks.

Your baby's doctor will be understanding about baby eczema and natural skin care concerns. In many cases they are parents to and can understand your concerns about using too many man-made chemicals on your child. You may be surprised to find out your pediatrician uses these very tips on their own infants.
