Violence against and the exploitation of children is a global concern that may affect future social, political, economical and educational growth. If not addressed on time and properly, they could lead to severe health risks and social deterioration. While the government of Kenya has tried so much to promise protection for human rights, Kenyan kids are still not enjoying them to the full, a clear picture that degradation of the future of some children is still in progress.
Research shows that quite a number of children in Kenya face social hardships; many are constantly being subjected to emotional and physical torture and sexual assaults. Such assaults usually lead to eruption of short and long-term effects. Usually, the short term and long term results of such violence as sexual assaults and emotional and physical exploitations lead to severe consequences not only to the victims but also to the society as a whole.
In the same line of sexual issues, partners, boyfriends, romantic lovers and girlfriends were discovered as major perpetrators of sexual violence. This group is most followed by some violent neighbors and inhuman parents full of sexual minds and lack of sympathy for children. Most children who experienced sexual assaults in their lives report that those who subjected them to the act were ten or more years older than them.
The reason for the design of Violence against Children Studies (VACs) was to give birth to a lifetime and current experience of sexual, emotional and physical violation for both male and female children. The research clearly indicated that violence, whether sexual, physical or emotional, is among the major problems facing the country. A good example is that 32% females and 18% male children have actually suffered from terrible sexual assaults.
Many kids have experienced an overlap of sexual assaults, physical and emotional torture. Such violence results to more dangers such as anxiety and the fear that nothing about life seem good and in that sense, a child grows not knowing the existence of good people. Each young male or female in the country go through either one or all forms of challenges mentioned herein.
Experiencing violence by caregivers, parents and other people has subjected children under certain emotional torture. These have resulted to behavioral problems in both adolescence and adulthood. If Kenya is not going to take charge and control this situation, then it should be ready to observe some strange results among the children in this very state.
Some of the things this will lead to include anxiety, low academic performance, depression, a reduction in self-esteem and loss of self-value and self-image. It is important to note that there is a need to establish a clear response plan that will help ensure respect for human life without any compromise. This is not debatable.
Because children are the hope for the future for this country, the government has to put effective measure in place to help protect children from any form of violence. Kenyan kids are special living beings and they should not be ignored. They are not baboons in the jungle.
