What Bugs Bridesmaids

By Mondo Humboldt

Being a bride is a moment some women have waited their whole lives for. However, to actually get every detail to turn out the way a bride has been planning it in her head since she was a little is next to impossible! A word of warning for anyone who is involved in the wedding planning process, because when things to go as the bride expects, watch out for bridezilla! To make matters worse, the bride might not be the only one who is upset with how the wedding is turning out. Have you ever seen a line of comfortable and unhappy bridesmaids, forced into dresses they hate? That's right, the bridesmaid dresses are a very critical choice and can mean a wedding line full of happy, beautiful, confident women, or can mean "watch out this smile is fake and I cannot wait to get out of this hideous dress!"

Keeping bridesmaid-zillas from breaking out at the wedding will largely depend on the dresses the bridesmaids are wearing and how they look and fit. A bride needs to make sure she doesn't just pick the dress she has pictured in her head for years for her girls. She needs to be mindful of the different shapes and sizes and skin tones of her girls. Something she didn't consider when she was younger because in reality she had no idea how her closest friends would turn out. Not all styles and colors will look good on her girls. The bride should choose a style and color that for the most part favors everyone, and then let her girls make any necessary alterations they need to. Each girl should customize the dress so that it fits perfectly and add any accessories she needs to pull of the style.

Money is another factor to consider when a bride picks out the dress she wants her bridesmaids to wear. Making the bridesmaids pay a ridiculous price for something they don't even want to wear can send them straight into bridesmaid-zilla mode! Of course it is easier to try for something a little more expensive if the bride thinks her girls will like the dress enough to wear it again. In fact, a lot of brides pitch the price by trying to convince them that they will wear the dress again. However, whether the bridesmaid will wear her dress again or shove it deep into a closet to collect dust, the dress should be reasonably priced.

Overall, a thoughtful bride won't ask her best girlfriends to pay for something that is way out of their price range. It is important that the bridesmaids have enough money left over to be able to spend on any must need alterations. If the bridesmaid is able to alter the dress to fit her needs it is much more likely she will wear the dress again. The more times a bridesmaid is able to wear her dress after the wedding, the more value she will get with the money she spent on it. However, in the end a bridesmaid should be a very good friend of the bride and won't mind paying what the bride needs to give her what she wants on her special day.

A good bridesmaid will take the dress she is given with open arms and make it work, with a smile. Part of being a good friend or family member is being supportive of the bride's decisions and wearing what they ask no matter what. A good bride should take all of the different body types into consideration when she picks the dress and allow her girls to make any necessary adjustments. It is very possible to pick bridesmaid dresses that will make both the bride and her line happy and beautiful at an affordable price!
