Soups And Stews - Fill Your Tummies Without Emptying Your Wallet

By Susanne Myers

I never quite warmed up to those pre-packed microwave instant "soup in a second" type soups or stews. We're missing the pleasure of simmering and stirring a gigantic pot of delicious, aromatic ingredients. A big pot of soup or stew does more than fills your family's bellies... it says "we're home." Ladle out big bowls of homemade soup and you not only thrill your family, but your pocketbook, as well.

If you have a traditional family recipe for chicken soup or beef stew, but you have not ventured much further, this struggling economy could, and should, be the time to experiment. There is a vast variety of soups, stews, and chowders that are just waiting for your creative hand. And, don't worry, just because they are economical doesn't mean they are less nutritious. On the contrary, you may be surprised by the amount and quality of nutrients in these simple dishes.

Very often, the first ingredient in any soup is chicken broth. Yes, I sometimes use those canned and boxed varieties. However, never underestimate the power of your own homemade chicken broth. First, you control the salt that goes into your own broth. Second, you control the flavor. I like to use a lot of onion, celery, and black pepper, but no carrots at all. Other people like carrots, but no celery. How you make it is up to you, but the main thing is you can make yourself a nice supply of chicken broth, freeze it, and it's ready when you are, and for a great deal less money.

Once you decide to make your own chicken broth, you can choose between a couple methods. If you have a leftover chicken carcass from a roasted chicken dinner, go ahead and boil up those bones with whatever seasonings and vegetables you would like. You can also purchase a whole chicken to use, and you'll have cooked chicken to chop up and store to use for other meals. Just be sure to cool it as rapidly as possible, then store in freezer-safe containers.

Our mothers and grandmothers knew a thing or two about stretching the food budget. Now that we're trying to make ends meet while feeding our family, we need to take a little lesson from them. It's time to start cooking with "soup bones" again. Soup bones pack an incredible amount of flavor to our soups, stews, and chowders. See the butcher if you can't find the soup bones in the meat department. They'll be thrilled to provide you with whatever soup bone you want because they need to get rid of them. Often there will be enough little pieces of meat left on the bone to add to your soup once the simmering is finished. Your dog will love you, too. Throw doggie a nice, big knuckle bone and watch that tail wag!

Beans, peas, and lentils have recently made a comeback for several reasons. Many vegetarians use beans as a meat-substitute, but they are also a vegetable, so beans have a wide range of nutrients to help everyone balance their diet. Beans and peas add wonderful flavor to soups and stews as well as thicken and add texture. Just when you think you've tried every recipe there is for Black Bean Soup or Split Pea Soup, you'll find ten more with added tweaks. Then there are the more unusual combinations to try like Chickpea and Butternut Squash Stew. If you're watching your wallet these days, you'll soon understand why cooking up a batch of bean, pea, or Lentil Soup. Besides, they're yummy, too!

Another great soothing soup is Potato Soup. Potatoes are inexpensive and nutritious and make a wonderfully smooth and thick base for any soup. There are many ways to make Potato Soup and there are countless recipes with ideas for adding different ingredients. You can start with a simple base of potato soup and add ham, cheese, or vegetables, and wind up with a very filling and flavorful soup. Top your Potato Soup with some shredded cheese, and a few crispy croutons, and you've got a meal that is really going to fill the tummies!

We can't forget to mention the whole family of Chowders. Whether you're cooking Corn Chowder using the most basic of recipes, or you're working some magic by adding seafood or ham, any Chowder can hold it's own against your family's appetite. This is a dish that is very satisfying, meaning no one leaves the table hungry. Your food budget will thank you, too.

When you're planning your menu for the week, have you included at least one or two soup nights? There will be no complaining when your family comes home to the wonderfully warm aroma wafting through the house. Ahhh... soup. We're home.

Does Your Baby Have Normal Size?

By Bernard Bowers

All mothers watch their children's development closely. We get worried if they're too small, or too big, too short or too tall. But, just like adults, babies come in all shapes and sizes. The pediatrician will rank your baby's size during her well baby checkups. How will this work?

After weighing and measuring your baby, you'll be told by your pediatrician about your baby's weight and length rank in terms of percentile. This simply tells you how your baby compares to other babies of the same age. For example, if your baby's weight falls into the 80th percentile, it means she weighs more than 80 percent of babies her age. There are people who would think ranking in a high percentile is a good thing because it would mean that the baby is thriving. However, this is not necessarily the case. A baby might be thriving in the 40th percentile but is destined to be a small person. For example, I have a healthy daughter who's consistently been in the 50th percentile and has plenty of meat on her bones. My husband and I are not very large people, and it seems that she has simply inherited our body size.

Your baby's length will be ranked in exactly the same way, and can give you an idea of whether your baby will be tall, medium or average in height. A baby can rank in the 90th percentile in height even though both you and your husband are short, but it's rare and you can't really expect it.

There is one thing you need to look for, and that's the difference between height and weight percentiles. But they're pretty close. You may be feeding your baby a bit too much if she's 90th in weight and 40th in height. But if she ranks 30th in weight and 90th in height, then she's on the thin side. You'll be advised by your doctor if ever your child's diet needs attention.

Attending those well baby visits with your pediatrician is the most important thing you can do to monitor your child's development. Your doctor will alert you on issues that needs attention after she monitors your baby's progress. Keeping tabs on the progress is a good idea because this first year of development is critical.

Early Childhood Development with Activity Gyms

By Jim Baebe

Everyone knows that fitness makes a happy body, helping people stay in shape and be happy. This also is true for your newborn child. They'll need proper exercise to grow and become strong healthy people.

Keeping up with your kids and the rate at which they grow is a huge task and more difficult when parents are working full time or more! While new parents are lucky to have a slew of options when it comes to tools to assist them in this responsibility, it can often be difficult to choose which is best for their children.

Baby gyms or as they are also called, activity gyms are one of the best tools available for getting your child the stimulation they need. Not only will these gyms stimulate the child physically by allowing them to push, pull, grab, hang or maybe even swing if they're a bit of a prodigy, the gyms also will exercise the mind!

Most activity gyms come in a flood of colors that will help your child distinctly recognize color, shapes and sizes. There are only so many possibilities when it comes to giving your baby type of device to play on without the risk of injury and these baby activity gyms are the number one choice.

Right from birth your baby will benefit from this stimulation, and after a month or so they should respond well to both colors and sounds. However, increased energy levels and rapid growth mean that you will likely face an ever changing challenge to regulate a schedule of activities that will ensure your child's continued well-being and provide them the best start in life. An additional benefit of allowing your baby to burn off excess energy is that it can also help to establish a regular sleeping schedule.

While shopping for your baby's gym be sure to check out amazing options from Baby Einstein, Fisher Price, Cariboo, Infantino, Skip Hop or Little Tikes. Explore all the offerings from musical gyms to those with flashing lights. There are large and small and medium too, there's simple and complex to those that are practically self contained.

Find the right gym for your child's unique preference. In order for your child to love playing with the gym they'll need to love something about it! So maybe it's a cow or maybe it's an airplane but every child loves something so don't stop looking until you find the right one.

Tips to Help Parents Shop for the Best Baby Pushchairs

By Ali Garcia

Buying a baby pushchair seems simple enough until you find out there are hundreds of models on the market. With so many options available these days, it can often seem like choosing just the right pushchair is a next to impossible feat. There is no need to panic; with the right information and a little guidance you will be able to make one of the best pushchair/stroller buying decisions of your life. The best method is to establish a price range and to make a list of the features you absolutely need before starting your search. Next, you will discover what to look for in a pushchair or stroller.

When trying to decide which pushchair or stroller to buy for your baby, look closely at the type of wheels it has. The wheels can be either fixed in one place or designed to swivel. Strollers with swivel wheels are much easier to maneuver around, while those with fixed wheels can be far more difficult to control. Consider trying to move around with the carts in grocery stores. Now imagine if those wheels didn't swivel. How awkward would it be for you to steer your cart around? The same idea follows for strollers and pushchairs. You want something with maximum maneuverability.

Among your relatives, friends, and neighbors, you can find one person who has a pushchair that is just taking up space. There is nothing wrong with accepting a hand-me-down if it comes from a loved one, especially when it can save you hundreds of dollars. Of course, you don't want your baby to have something that is worn out, that's why you can simply pick and choose among your options. Imagine what you will do with the few extra hundred of dollars you just saved.

Safety is a major factor in making your pushchair choice. You can avoid a faulty product by spending a few minutes confirming that there aren't any bad reports on it. Are there instances when any part of the chair can be undone and your baby can swallow a part of the pushchair? Don't go for one that looks rickety simply because it will save you a few dollars. Safety always comes first. Your baby is helpless while riding in a pushchair.

There are a lot of things to consider when buying baby pushchairs.

There are many ways you can decide whether certain baby pushchairs are the right ones for you. Just be sure you are buying a stroller that is actually going to meet your needs. Just because someone else likes a stroller doesn't mean it's right for you. Take your time to figure out what you need a pushchair to do, and then buy one that does it.

Sleep Problems In Children

By Amanda Gamdana

It might be a shock to you to discover that there are a number of kids sleep disorders that are able to affect how well a child sleeps, and how much they benefit from the sleep they do get. Some studies have shown that thirty percent of kids have challenging sleep disorders when they are very young.

Believe it or not, kids can have problems such as sleep walking, nightmares and even certain forms of sleep apnea and insomnia. Most people don't understand that kids in their school years need to get between nine and twelve hours sleep but regrettably, many kids never get their required sleep.

There are other sleep problems such as grinding of the teeth, bed wetting, and even banging their head are believed to be a serious conditions if they happen while sleeping. The most usual of these sleep troubles come in the form of nightmares as well as sleep walking, but they are a good degree more harmless than the others.

Sleepwalking does require some work to be done by parents to put up safety measures with regards to this sleep disorder so it doesn't get the child hurt. This can be done by ensuring the house is free of dangers. In most cases, the child will outgrow the common sleep disorders they may face at least by their teen years.

It is important to seek the advice of a health care professional in any case of nightmares, head banging, teeth grinding, bedwetting and more severe problems such as sleep apnea. These conditions could indicate other medical conditions if they continue to happen well beyond the average age of the child. Fortunately, the majority of these conditions have a high end limit on age when most children will have outgrown them.

Start considering your child has a sleep disorder if your child is having difficulty staying awake in class. They may also fall asleep when they are travelling in a car or talking to someone or when they are in class or reading a book. Don't doubt these as indications that your kid has something of a sleep disorder when they are trying to get their full night's rest. In the case of sleep apnea keep an eye out for constant mouth breathing plus any reported circumstances paying attention while in school.

One of the good things is that these types of sleep disorders just so happen to be the simplest to cure and mostly consist of illnesses and disorders, which can be treated. Until your child begins exhibiting signs which endanger them you can then be assured that children will outgrow their maladies over time. If you are still concerned about your child then speaking with your primary care physician will keep you informed about the actions you can try at home to help your child.

In many child sleep disorder cases there are likely many other mental and physical circumstances that will influence how well your child sleeps. It's possible you could get a referral to speak with a psychologist on behalf of your child to check for any problems such as ADHD.

How To Set Up Your Coat Closet

By Owen Jones

Most people have some type of arrangement near the main entrance to their house, mostly the front door, for storing residents' and visitors' coats. Some houses have a simple row of hooks in the hall, whereas others have a dedicated coat closet or cloakroom.

Furthermore, most of these spaces are fairly chaotic with coats heaped over other coats which are heaped on top of other coats that no-one has worn for years.

You ought to apply the same rules to organizing this area, let's call it a cloakroom for easy reference, as you do to your bedroom closets or wardrobes. The trick is that everything should have a place and everything must be in that place, which means that you and all the family or all the household have to be aware of the rules.

It simply does not make for a tidy cloakroom if some folk stick to the rules while others do what they please. Let's take an average family or household of four as another norm. Four people like this will own a coat or two each, a jacket, perhaps an umbrella and several pairs of shoes and a pair of slippers maybe.

You could install a shoe rack so that each person can store, say, three pairs of shoes each in the cloakroom. If your shoe rack has four levels then three pairs of shoes and a pair of slippers per person. Everything else has to be stored either in the bedroom or the garage. Some footwear is seasonal, so this ought not become too much of a difficulty.

Similarly with coats and jackets. You could have a row of coat hooks around the walls of the cloakroom and allocate every member of the household a certain number of hooks. (Look out for the cloakroom hooks that have a top and bottom hook - two for the space of one).

Again, all non-seasonal coats to be stored in the bedroom. One more tip here, remember to assign a row of pegs for visitors. Perhaps one of the small walls of a small cloakroom could be set apart for guests.

An ideal cloakroom would have a shoe rack at the floor level or a bit higher, then a row of double coat pegs and then a shelf running around it. This shelf is important. People used to wear hats a great deal more than they do now, but some people still wear gloves, scarves and shawls that they would rather not hang on a peg and others like to ride a motorbike.

Never worry, you will always find something to put on a shelf in a cloakroom even if it is merely a tin of air freshener to spray around before friends arrive.

One more thing that is frequently stored in cloakrooms that you should reserve space for is the vacuum cleaner. It is convenient to have a vacuum cleaner in the hall to pick up the bits of mud and garbage that inevitably get carried or blown into the hall, but you will always have space for one in a well-organized cloakroom

Does Your Business Need Cloud Storage?

By Delfin Joaquin Paris III

There is an already identified checklist of cloud computing features, from decreased company charges as well as quick deployments to total and also extensive admittance along with providing enterprise-class engineering to smaller sized companies. However I recently discovered several beneath the radar benefits that cloud storage guarantees provide one's small or mid-sized small business.

Synchronization

Cloud storage engineering enables consumers to sync documents immediately between computer systems on the local system network. That is important simply because many small to mid-sized businesses even now maintain crucial files in local hard disks. Cloud storage indicates you can reduce or eliminate the need for actually moving your data from one machine to another and even the need to email documents around the office.

Collaboration

Launched through Google Docs, a lot of cloud-storage suppliers now let customers to view and modify data (spreadsheets, presentations, as well as word processing documents, as an example) by means of an online portal. This is especially a good choice for supporting geographically dispersed employees to work with others instantly.

Sharing

Large video clip, music, and image art documents can easily choke your company's e-mail system. And also e-mailing vulnerable documents could raise security worries. Several cloud storage providers currently offer drag and drop efficiency that allows you to safely and securely copy significant or confidential records.

Security

It could be counter-intuitive, but cloud storage is in fact a great deal more protected than many small to mid-sized businesses are able to do in-house. At many smaller organizations, locally filed data are at threat from theft, fire, software issues, and computer failure. Cloud storage will offer built-in redundancy at every level: hard disk, machine, and data center.

Always On

Whenever small to mid-sized businesses's ISP goes off-line, or when ones router fails, or even whenever the server has problems, or you (or perhaps a person in your IT personnel) pulls the incorrect switch, your complete company can lose usage of data and services. Cloud storage services must be professionals at uptime and service accessibility. Their particular uptime records are often a lot better than what can be done by yourself. Also, since many cloud storage providers cache data locally in addition to on the internet, even if the service goes down or perhaps you lose your online connection you've still got usage of important computer data.

Even though cloud storage makes these features possible, none of them are guaranteed. A fast glance at the media is actually all it takes to become reminded that even the best cloud providers from time to time have issues. Find the wrong company -- or hit some bad luck -- and these advantages could go away. Or worse.

Conversely, don't forget this simple fact when reading about all of the issues in the cloud: Similar problems between small and mid-sized organizations are simply just way too frequent for being newsworthy -- even though the particular afflicted businesses were prepared to discuss them.

So, what's a business owner to do? Well, quite truthfully, venture out there and acquire some offsite data storage quotes. There are numerous resources on the web where you can receive no cost quotes. There are various kinds of servicing, solutions, and costs, so do your due diligence. Get a custom-made solution from a few services and choose just what makes the most sense for your business.

Dental Braces To Help You Have That Smile Everyone Longs For

By Jacob Matos

A day out at the dentists place can include something as simple as a ten minute check up and at times there will be need of something more advanced. One of these is where the patient is told that there is need of corrective procedures to align the growth of teeth. A good example is when a child has to wear braces, over a 6 month period.

The process of installing the braces is not at all as painful as people purport it to be. There is actually very minimal pain. Therefore, the idea of it being painful and extremely expensive is all just a fallacy and people being scared of going to a dentist in the first place.

Lately, people are beginning to want more control over their appearance. That is why they will go for cosmetic and corrective procedures to ensure that they look good, even 6 months with braces.

Many people would fancy having a nice picturesque smile to show off to the world. They would therefore not mind wearing braces for half a year if that's what it takes. Dental clinics know this and are willing to help. Cosmetic dentistry has therefore continued to grow in popularity and it is one of the most sort-after therapies, both men and women in mind.

Because of the benefits, this cosmetic procedure sells itself and has become popular in today's society. For the end product, there is no shame in smiling with all those metal links gaping out of your teeth.

Do you fear that you may wear braces for a long time and have nothing to show for it? Look at others results and be convinced. Braces always work.

It is best advised that you talk to a physician ASAP if you want to have braces installed. It is not so hard to get the braces fitted.

Generally, by the time you decide to call up a doc, you should have decided whether or not you are ready to make that decision to wear braces. You are not just mincing words about the whole issue. You are in it for 6 months you know? Sometimes they take longer. However, after all that, it becomes time for all smiles.

Overnight Summer Camp- Taking a Camp Tour

By Lonie Lorenz

Worried about sending your child off to a Summer Youth Camp without knowing enough about that camp? Take a journey to your child's summer camp while it is in session. You will learn enough through direct observation and conversations to make you feel more comfortable, especially if you have reviewed the information about the camp and arrive prepared to ask questions.

Picking the right day is important. Call ahead for an appointment to make sure that you can visit on a day when you can see the summer camp program in action. The director may ask you to come a different day than you request. Your first choice may fall on a day when too many campers would be off camp property, or it might be during visiting day or between sessions when no campers are present.

Plan on taking at least three hours at the camp so that you will have time to observe activities at length and chat with campers and staff. The settings, facilities and activities matter, but more important to your child's experience will be how the administration and the staff behave in action. Watch how the camp's counselors juggle the demands of campers. Of course, be sure to observe that safety precautions are consistently being taken.

Take your child with you on the tour and pay attention to how the guide relates with your child. The way the guide interacts with your child will tell you volumes about the camp's attitude towards the children it should be there to serve.

The camp director may or may not be the tour guide, but you should make sure to meet him or her before you leave. You need to know if the director is someone that you can trust to take care of your child for the summer. Is the director a hands-on administrator, or does he or she appear to spend more time in the office with paper work than with the staff and campers? Does the director know the names of most of the children that you meet? Where is the director's on-camp residence?

Watch the counselors' interaction with the campers in their care. If they aren't kind, caring, sensitive, imaginative, patient and skilled, then nothing else will matter. Who is responsible for making sure your child has a safe and fun summer? Counselors. Watch the counselors during activities: counselors should be supervising and interacting with the kids rather than talking with other staff. Be sure counselors praise all campers in activities, not just the the best children. Counselors who teach a specialty should not just show their own skills but also show enthusiasm to the campers.

If you feel parental concern about sending your child to a summer camp this year, be sure to take the time and visit that camp. It will help you feel more comfortable about your wise choice for sending your child to a summer of great fun.

Evenflo Infant Car Seat: A Review of the Evenflo Embrace 5 LX Infant Car Seat

By Jacob Akshire

If you're thinking about what brand of car seat you should get, I have a very good suggestion for you. An Evenflo infant car seat is excellent to use because the name is well-known for making only quality products that provide the best protection for your child. One of the best models for babies is the Evenflo Embrace 5 LX Infant Car Seat which is especially designed to match only the primary travelling needs of every baby up to 1 year of age. This review will cover everything you need to know about this product.

General Description

Since it is an Evenflo infant car seat, it is only designed to carry babies from 5 up to 22 pounds, or 10 kilos of weight. The maximum weight is the average weight of a 1 year and 3 month-old child, but bigger children can reach this weight even before reaching this particular age. This seat is not intended to be used by any child bigger than 22 pounds, and it is only created to perfectly match the needs of every infant. It is only used rear facing, since it is only for infants. It has complete harnesses and security locks to keep your baby always intact and in place to prevent any accidents to happen while riding in a transportation vehicle.

Features

There are several features which make this model a very good car seat to use. The exclusive CarryRight trademark Z-handle of this model is a special design which you cannot find in any other brand of car seats. The Z-shaped handle is made for easier carrying so every parent can effortlessly transport their babies from the home into the car. The Comfort Touch padding and removable head pillow are especially designed to provide comfort for your baby while he sleeps and while you're driving, keeping him satisfied and preventing him from crying all along your trip. The EPP energy absorbing foam liner is a shock-absorbing material that keeps forces from affecting your child, adding safety and comfort to the entire car seat. There's also a pivoting canopy which you can use to keep your baby shaded when it's sunny during your drive.

The car seat comes with an adjustable base and level indicator which is made for easier installation and adjustment of the level of your child. There is also a separate stay-in-car base for the car seat where you can install it and easily take it out after the drive. You can use the car seat without the base as well, and a belt guide is available to lock the seat without a base. There's even an angle indicator which you can use to determine the level of your infant to make sure that he's comfortable and satisfied with the current position he's in, and he won't be crying anywhere during the trip.

Colors

There are only two colors available for the Embrace: Centerville and Metro. Centerville has a combination of a black frame, brown interior, and polka dotted padding, while Metro has a simple black frame, gray interior and light gray padding color combination. Metro is much more preferable over Centerville because it shows less wear and tear and weathering, and it's longer-lasting because it doesn't have any fading colors.

Other Features

There are three shoulder harness positions and two crotch buckle positions to better secure your child even as he grows bigger and more fidgety. This enables him to sit as cozily as possible and because they are adjustable, you can use the seat even after several months, or even until your child reaches 10 kilos. There are also extra bases available for your use if you have other vehicles, so you can use the same car seat even in multiple cars. The pads are even removable and washable so you can keep them always in good condition. The design of this car seat is also made to meet the standards and requirements of all federal laws, especially the side impact and the overall crash test.

Conclusion

Whether you're just planning to get pregnant, you're already pregnant, or your child is a new born baby, you have to prepare a good seat for him when he arrives, and an Evenflo infant car seat is the perfect brand that you can get. The Evenflo Embrace 5 LX Infant Car Seat is one model which I can highly recommend because of its comfort, strength, and technical design that isn't just for a few months' use, but until your child reaches even more than a year of age.

Motivating Employees And How To Implement It In Your Business

By Rick Schultz

A fantastic starting point learning about motivation is always to start knowing your own personal motivations. The key to helping to motivate your employees is to comprehend what motivates them. What exactly motivates you? Consider, as an example, time with household, recognition, work well done, service, learning, etc. How is your job configured to support your own personal motivations? What can you do today to better motivate yourself. The authentic question for you is: Would you re-train staff who may have numerous years of experiencing their life driven by extrinsic enthusiasm to change to an intrinsic orientation? These could be completed by the nature of the corporate atmosphere an innovator creates.

A leader with a powerful perception, clearly put on and shown core values, and an opportunity to properly converse the perspective, values, and wishes within an electrifying way will behave like a magnetic force appealing to and encouraging staff members whose own perspective is going to be part of a team of people with the exact same principles and motivation. Features it offers to motivating employees is to learn what truly drives individuals. In contrast to prior belief it's not at all funds, encouragement, or perks. It really is how these icons are represented inside the employee's brain.

It is no doubt how the best and most efficient way to motivate employees should be to enable them to gain an affection of the two reasons for enthusiasm that bring them, the auto protective state as well as the genuine state. Each and every person has entry to both states of consciousness. The bottom line is to motivate employees by encouraging them learn how to access to either of such conditions. In the current work environment where unemployment rates are over before, job security gets a major driver or source of motivation for anyone in today's world.

One amazing example is a commercial client who has found out that by giving employees the opportunity to possess a voice regarding operational practices, articulation from the core valuations, and helping other staff members follow those ideals, a change has happened the mindset of most employees who only six months prior were whining about pay cuts. Maybe you have remarked that sometimes the point that people say they demand is not what they truly want? Six months ago there was clearly 100 plus employees who have been investing most of their time complaining to one another about pay cuts, feeling uninspired, disenfranchised, and essentially incapable. The rightful rendering of a method which involved having facilitated meetings during which personnel could tackle their issues. Many of the items described revolved around their work place, just like the leaky sinks in the bath rooms, or safety hazards in the plant. A number of concerns addressed the out-of-date equipment that made their work tougher, although still complained about issues in relation to money. As commanders of such breakout groups took records then one by one responded to the employees' issues, a change started to happen regarding morale. Pointed out that the noise levels about pay cuts had cut down substantially, work productivity and morale considerably improved.

What motivated these workforce to change their emphasis from pay cuts to productiveness? These people were given a voice. They had input to increasing their circumstances, these people were very simply: empowered. Having their pay taken away without debate rendered many feeling powerless. As leaders responded to employees' insight and integrated the tips these staff who six months prior felt helpless now were strengthened. Empowerment is the vital thing to motivating employees.

How to prepare baby for plane travel

By Kate Pilch

I have planned my trip to Europe for a long time now. I am going to spend 29 hours on the plane with my baby and I think it will be quite difficult. My husband is not going to travel with us this time so I will have to look after my ten months old by myself. Obviously I have done a lot of research how to travel with a baby. The trip will prove how easy or how difficult it is to be on the plane with a baby.

This is my first plane trip with my baby so I have to focus on being calm and concentrated all the time. I really hope my baby will be sleeping majority of the trip so that I could also have some rest. The more we both sleep the easier it will be to survive those long hours on the plane. I heard from my friends who travel a lot with their infants that it is good to be calm before and during the trip as the baby can sense our emotions and reflect them in his behavior.

The best option for me is to have my baby in baby carrier. I will have stopover in Singapore and in Amsterdam so having my little one in carrier will be the safest and the easiest solution. At least I will be able to stop all old grannies trying to touch my little one with their dirty hands. They always do that in shops without realizing that a mother doesn't necessary like her baby to be touched, even if this is really cute baby.

Make sure you keep an eye on your kid all the time. It is easy to loose sight of your little one and get separated from him. Airlines don't give money back for tickets if you miss a plane, no matter how important the reason is. It is the most important rule of traveling, always hold your baby's hand or observe him closely. One of my jobs was at the airport. I used to observe desperate parents that couldn't find their precious kids. Little kids were usually playing unaware in one of airport shops.

Who said it is easy to travel with baby. The more opinions I hear the more careful I am to prepare our trip carefully. i don't want to be one of those parents that have to pay for expensive alcohol just because the baby decided to play with a bottle. I will be careful and I am sure I will be able to count on airline staff whenever necessary. From my experience I know that both airport staff and stewardesses are very friendly. I am sure it won't be that bad.

An Article To Help You Select The Correct Baby Monitor

By Meinhard Schmitt

Anyone who is in search of a baby monitor should learn all about it first. Before investing in anything, important factors have to be taken into consideration. For instance, the type of baby monitor should be thought of. You cannot just go out and pay for the first item that you see. You have to make sure that it is the right one for your baby. Basically, there are three different types of baby monitors that should be scrutinized.

The classic sound wireless baby monitor, for instance, is one of them. It uses DECT technology, so it can allow for excellent transmission that does not encounter any signal interference. It is way better than the baby monitors years ago which receive unnecessary noise from nearby households.

Another choice would be the video baby monitor. With the help of digital signals, parents can monitor their baby while he sleeps. They will be able to watch him through a small colored monitor that is powered by rechargeable batteries. This monitor is portable and can be easily carried around the house. Since the batteries are rechargeable, there is no need to buy new ones when they drain. They just have to be plugged in and recharged.

Then, there is also the baby motion monitor. It is actually the newest type of baby monitor available. It works with sound and movement sensors that are placed underneath the mattress of the baby. It gives off an alarm signal to notify the parents when it detects no movement from the baby after twenty seconds.

Nonetheless, if you are thinking of the basic baby monitors, here are the three various types available at present.

Analog Baby Monitors - These types of baby monitors are old yet they are still used by many parents because they are reliable and efficient. However, despite of their efficiency and ease of use, analog baby monitors have a huge drawback. Since they are not equipped with the most recent technology, they receive unwanted and interfering signals from neighbors who also have the same kinds of baby monitors. As a result, conversations and the crying of the baby next door can be heard.

Digital Baby Monitors - These baby monitors are more advanced than the analog baby monitors. Therefore, they produce better sound quality and they have a wider range.

Finally, there are the DECT Sound Monitors. These new monitors use state of the art technology to offer exceptional sound quality to their users. They do not receive unnecessary signals, and they have a secure connection. So, if you have a DECT baby monitor, you do not have to worry about interference. DECT monitors can also scan one hundred channels to find the best signal. They are expensive, though; but they are also worth their price.

Positive And Negative Discipline Strategies For Parents And Teachers

By Charles Murray

It is valuable for parents to understand the many subtle differences between positive and negative discipline strategies, as well as their purposes and situations in which to use them. Understanding the differences can help parents effectively teach and guide their children, even through times when children are misbehaving.

Even though the terms discipline and punishment are regularly used interchangeably, there is a basic distinction. Punishment actually refers to the inflicting of pain or suffering, occasionally as a method of retribution. However, discipline is the guided correction that is given with specific efforts made to positively affect a behavior, more alike to a reinforcement strategy than punishment. Positive parenting and teaching can be achieved by using discipline and reinforcement strategies, instead of reacting to misbehaviors out of frustration with punishments. Discipline strategies and reinforcements can be either positive or negative, so determining the differences between these is important for parents and teachers when they are deciding what is appropriate for each child and situation.

Time-out strategies are often referred to as positive discipline methods, maybe because they can be alternatives to punishments like spankings. However, time-outs are really methods of negative discipline. Given in response to misbehaviors such as taking toys away from classmates, time-outs are used as negative reinforcements. A child in a time-out is removed from the group and often has feelings of isolation and loss of the desired activity. This method can be is effective for some children or situations, but it needs to be used in specific ways.

Time-out strategies for children who are misbehaving need to follow guidelines in order for the strategy to be effective. The time-out should be given for the same amount of time as the age of the child, such as 5 minute time-out for a 5-year old. The time-out should be given immediately after the misbehavior has occurred, and should be accompanied by a clear, age appropriate explanation. The focus of the explanation should be on the negative behavior, and children should be encouraged to use that the time to think about their actions and ways to amend or do better next time.

Time-outs are not always the best approach for each situation or child, so parents and teachers can utilize methods of positive discipline. Discipline can be both positive and negative, as discipline is actually the act of teaching or leading, and reinforcing good behaviors.

Reward charts, even for goals such as consistently sharing toys, help emphasize for children the desired behaviors and focuses on them in positive ways. Everyday little things like giving hugs, extra smiles, or high fives are ways that reinforce the good behavior that was noticed. Empathy and emotional responsibility can also be taught by speaking with children and role playing with them about how it feels to be on the receiving ends of the misbehavior.

Sometimes it is only in the presentation that the distinction is made between a positive and a negative discipline method. A student who refused to clean up art supplies might be given detention or not be allowed to participate in a game after art class. Teachers can instead present the rule that once all of the art supplies are put away, the class gets 5 extra minutes to play a game. The students are in charge of their decisions and more likely to comply. Teachers should also make positive reinforcement a part of this strategy, acknowledging those students who are cleaning up the supplies. Focusing on the positive behaviors still teaches children what behaviors are accepted, but does so in a positive approach.

Negative behaviors are easy to react to in negative ways, often out of frustration, but parents and teachers will find that children are more receptive to positive discipline and reinforcement used consistently. There are usually many opportunities for parents and teachers to acknowledge behaviors that are desired to continue, instead of only focusing on the negative ones.

Looking For Cheaper Rooms To Stay In During For Your Vacation

By Andrew L. Baca

The internet is making so many things so easy to do and one of these is booking a room for your travels with the ideal hotel. If you go through the hotels websites properly you may even find that some will give you extra good treatment just to win you over their competitors.

There are hotels that you will end up getting more value for your money from simple things like just getting silk sheets instead of cotton sheets.

As usual with everything else in which there are many options for you to choose from, it is always a good idea to do some window shopping before you come to your conclusion. There always some rates that you may see on the internet that are there just to reel you in so that they can then tell you the real price when you have no other choice but to accept it.

Whenever you come across affiliate programs that can help reduce your accommodation fees then it is always a good idea to take advantage of them. Your credit card provider may be offering you some benefits if you go to a certain hotel or your airline may entitle you to a discount in their partner hotels.

One piece of advice that you will always get from those who have been travelling for ages is that you should always avoid booking for peak seasons as these are the most expensive times to travel.

Once you have saved all these major bucks on accommodation then you can put them to major use like just enjoying the area and buying good souvenirs.

It is always a good idea to call the hotel as well before you finalize your reservation to make sure that you understand exactly what conditions you will have at the hotel.

Your best option may be to call the hotel once you have taken a look at the website so that you can find the best room price.

Selecting Custom Blanket As A Popular Baby Gift

By Joanne Ohrn

Looking back at the things you used to do when you were young, you would discover some particular foods, toys, books, teddy bears and clothes. One sweet memory that never seems to go away for everyone is the personalized blanket.

When you recollect such sweet memories it simply brings a smile on your face. The blanket was your very dear companion and comfort for many years during the cold lonely nights. You actually felt safe and secure with this blanket.

Nowadays babies have special blankets that are made cuddly and soft just for this same purpose. Again most parents would not allow babies to use too many blankets since they become dirty very quickly, so they are given one blanket in the night to make them warm. Eventually the baby grows to cherish the blanket very much and treats it almost as a dear friend.

The psychological factor that plays in the child's mind is that the blanket provides some sort of security and safety and it is the reason it became known as "security blanket".

Going by this notion of how valuable a mere blanket can become dear to a child, people have started presenting gifts of personalized baby blankets for baby showers, christening and even as welcome home parties. They add pillows, and larger throws to the package. To achieve a grand style, the gift should be wrapped well to make it more interesting.

The options are varied and range from fleece baby blankets that are pretty soft, made for cuddling so the child can feel warm and secure in the night. The unique embroidery is fabulous and remains intact for years.

If your selection is of personalized blanket for the baby gift, one of the ideas is to add a special greeting that carries a few sentimental words from deep down the heart. The baby's name and date of birth could also be a good addition to this message. Other people like to use the embroidery facility to have the drawings of popular cartoon characters and images, teddy bears, or just the hearts. The retail outlet would definitely guide you in what limitations there are if any.

The aim should be to provide a gift that can be cherished over many years but also be able to get something that the child can feel secure warmth in.

Advantages And Utilization Of Babyphones

By Diana Collinson

To bring a little one into this world is difficult, but to rear them giving them our utmost love, affection and care is what we look forward to, to experience the bliss of a baby. Babies demand our attention at all times and we are generally occupied around the whole day when we have our baby to look after. An important child's item which will give you some hours of relaxation in your tough life of taking care of the baby is the babyphone or the baby monitor.

These are designed in a way similar to a radio system where a sender transmits the sounds produced by the baby to a receiver so that it is possible to listen to baby. These devices, which are also called baby alarms, mainly consist of two parts: the transmitter, which includes a microphone, and the receiver which incorporates the speaker. The transmitter is positioned near to the infant's crib and the receiver is placed near to the place where the caregiver is. Certain alarms allows the caregiver to talk back to the baby to calm him/her down and hence, have the quality of being bi-directional.

The prime utilization of this device is to inform the caregiver once the baby wakes up. Hence, the caregiver can have their leisure time while able to relax when the infant is taking its nap. A baby monitor also allows parents to be able to hear the attempts of their babies trying to master language skills.

It is interesting to find that there are certain babyphones which are attached with video cameras called as baby cams that can capture snapshots on to the receiver which can be viewed by connecting the same into a television. Many of the baby cams are able to work during nighttime in low lights.

The majority of the articles nowadays on the market are wireless, but ones with wires are also manufactured. When you are using a product of the wireless type, these devices use the radio frequencies which have been sanctioned by the governments to use for unlicensed purposes. Digital audio wireless systems are utilized by the DECT variety and are the most significant variety which are defiant to any interferences.

It is amazing to note that software applications for smartphones are available which can convert your iPhone and iTouch into babyphones. The software is really a unique one wherein when you keep the iPhone after installing and initiating the software, and 'the baby will call you' to one of the designated numbers when it needs help. The software works in a peculiar way which when detects a sound, will call the updated phone number and allows the receiver to hear the sound of the baby. I believe this is an absolutely ravishing part of technology.

Various other features are also observed in babyphones like portable battery-operated receivers which can be carried around by the caregiver. The transmitter remains around the baby's crib and can be inserted into a socket. Certain babyphone packages also include two receivers.

Technology has contributed so much into making baby monitors a huge success and has also introduced models wherein they have night lights and built-in lullabies. Babyphones are eventually progressing into classy models to keep in with the modern times.

Finding the Right Changing Table for Baby

By Alejandra Perez

What should you look for in a changing table for baby? This is a pretty important item in your baby's nursery.

One reason is due to the fact that changing diapers is a repetitive process; it just goes on and on doesn't it? Bending over again and again over your bed or some low level surface is not only annoying but a potential back strainer which is why you should have a changing table.

This way you and baby can stay happy and healthy.

Choosing a table is just like choosing furniture in your home. Pick an item that will suit your personal style and look for something that will last.

Can You Keep It Around Awhile?

If you really want to get your money's worth, then it would be best to pick a timeless piece that will really become like an heirloom for your family.

This way, once your baby has been potty trained; you can incorporate it into your home.

Consider choosing changing tables that are made of hard woods because these will be more likely to last as well as blend in with your furniture if you switch later.

Wood dressers/tables can always be painted at a later date which will make it easier for you to match your decor.

Pick Something That Will Match Your Style

You may be tempted to pick something temporary or "just for now" that you don't really love, but don't give in to that urge.

Find something that you might enjoy and use in your own bedroom or another room in a few years time.

You can use it to hold plenty of personal things as many have cubbies and even some with drawers or baskets for storage!

Is it sturdy?

Look for quality pieces made of solid wood or those that come recommended by other customers as high quality. You want to make sure it is something that will bear the weight without warping or causing damage to the design.

There are some tables that have been built with an extra support under the changing piece that will help keep this area strong and secure. It's a good option to have if the station is not made from the highest quality material.

Changing tables can be used in the nursery as well as in your home after your baby no longer needs it. Keep in mind that a good investment can give you quite a few years of usage from the right item.
